Top 5 Tips To Beat The Cold While Tailgating

by | Mar 24, 2023 | Tailgating

As football season goes on the weather in some places gets pretty cold pretty fast. Tailgating pros never let the little things like cold and snow get in the way of your good time, so check out our top 5 tips to help you beat the cold and keep the party going all the way to the endzone!

1. Bring The Right Equipment

If it is going to be a particularly cold one and your venue allows it, you should definitely consider bringing a portable space heater or even a mini fire pit. Sometimes there is just no substitute to warm you up. Just check your stadium regulations before you count on being able to use them, and of course, be safe.

2. Wear The Right Clothes

When it comes to cold weather gear, lots of lighter layers can tend to work better at keeping you warmer than one heavy jacket. We suggest layering up with some under armor, shirts, sweaters, and a jacket and trap your heat in with gloves, a hat, thick socks, and boots. Then, of course, top it all off with your team’s jersey and you will be bringing the heat all day.

3. Disposable Hand and Toe Warmers

If you are tailgating in the cold, these little hand warmers can become your best friend. The best part is that they don’t require any charging or power access, so make sure to bring a few extra packs and keep warm while you tailgate on. You can even tuck them in your pockets or boots!

4. Get Your Blood Pumping

Getting up and getting moving is one of the fastest and easiest ways to warm up, which is why you should get your blood pumping with some awesome tailgate games. You brought your corn hole and ring toss games, right? Choose a song on your tailgate party playlist that everyone loves and get your group up and dancing! By the end you’ll be having so much fun you will have forgotten you were cold at all!

5. Bring A Cardboard Box

This is one of our favorite hacks from an old tailgate pro. Bring a broken-down cardboard box with you to stand on while you party on in the parking lot and then to sit on when you make your way into the stadium. The cardboard will insulate you from the cold and help you stay a little warmer throughout the day. If the venue doesn’t want to allow you to bring a box in, write your team’s name on it and call it a sign.

Bonus Tip: It’s Always Warmest By The Grill

There’s no better way to stay warm at a winter tailgate than to volunteer to grill up the burgers and wings! Standing in front of the warm flame is sure to keep you toasty!
